How I have mad.

I shall not dissemble and speak, that all life dreamed about Shar-Pei.

It has passed 2 years from the moment of occurrence in the house of last dog, and I had got sharp desire again: "Well, one more". There were many new breeds in Moscow, and I mentally have selected all these breeds and listened to an internal voice. So, owing to my internal voice and a case, puppy has arrived to me from Moscow. Her name is Chita. Breed - Shar-Pei. What I knew about this breed at that time? Practically nothing. I saw them only on pictures. First Shar-Peis I have seen in Moscow in December, 1991 at 3-rd exhibition of dogs that was organized by club "Fauna". There was 3 Shar-Peis in the ring, imported from Czechoslovakia. They was dry, with the narrow not filled muzzles and has nothing the general with an ideal of this breed for me. The dogs who have been taken out to Vladivostok from China were same also. The following meeting with this breed has occured in the end of February, 1994 at the International exhibition of dogs "Eurasia - 94". There was 18 Shar-Peis. It were dogs that approached on the exterier to modern Shar-Peis. Their owners have appeared poorly talkative. They spoke that dogs very dear. And this has puzzled me - my husband was not allow to spend many money for a dog. But, despite of it, Chita has arrived to me in Vladivostok. And only now I understand, that the case was so wonderful and how I was lucky with my dog. I did not hear myths about weak immune system, about different hereditary diseases, about skin problems, etc., and I was not afraid the word "Shar-Pei". I knew nothing about breed, I did not read articles, and I did not use the Internet, therefore I did not know anything about Shar-Pei. Including, that then people spoke so much about breed, that it is the most problem, most allergic and the most sick breed.
I managed to grow up absolutely healthy animal - the dog who left me in her 11 years and has given 7 litters practicaly healthy children. Some puppies have lived till 9-12 years age. So I had sure, that in the Internet, much that speak is doubtful. But then, my first surprise was full mistrust for me from Chita. The normal reaction for 2-monthly puppies, which you take on hands, is to lick your face at least. But I was another's for Chita. Following my surprise and admiration was that the puppy did not begin to go to a toilet inside the house. In comparison with another breeds, it was unexpected. Later I have learned about feature of Shar-Pei - they have sudden rises of temperature. I don't know, Chita have it or not. For people, that first time seen my Chita, she was amazing. Neighbours named her "a dog on whom have reeled up a linen cord", "a dog whom dressed in bagels", or simple "the battery of steam heating". Certainly, it because of wrinkles on all her body. When puppy played with other dogs and opened a mouth, people were frightened: "She has sick heart! Tongue has already turned blue!" Chita's tongue has really bluish-black color. The wool to the touch was very prickly, this type calls "horse". About it I have learned later, when began to study the literature about Shar-Pei. Omnivorous Chita ate absolutely everything. When were dry forages, Chita step by step tried them on herself. You will tell, that I am lucky. I'm agree, the fraction of luck is in it. But it has dispelled myths about Shar-Peis which lived in Vladivostok. I can list set of breeds that have allergy, problems with joints, complexities with sorts, illnesses of digestive path. I don't want to quote the book "Illnesses of dogs", but it was considered, that this book was written about Shar-Pei. Actually, Chita has shown, that all this is not about her. But the certain complexities at cultivation of Shar-Pei are exist. Therefore, if you decided to buy the puppy of this breed, you should choose kennel and the responsible breeder, who becomes for you the instructor and the guarantor of health of your dog. If at once the breeder will start to speak you about complexities of this breed: allergic reactions, restrictions in the use of some products - it means, that there are genetic problems with health in kennel. Be seriously for this information.
Dialogue with Shar-Pei deliver to you pleasure for long years. Shar-Pei is universal dog and very convenient for content in apartments. The average size, compact, the wool does not require special leaving (short, without underfur), very clean (even small puppies go to the toilet in strictly certain seat). Shar-Pei is very mistrustful to another's, does not spoil furniture and things. Smart, devoted, vigorous and fearless. These qualities for universal dog, the excellent partner.
The horse coat is capable to cause in people an allergy at contact. Shar-Pei snors. But, with the years at many it passes.
